As part of the Love Your Local Market national media campaign, Cambridge Market’s food producers will be showcasing their products with free food tasting and live demonstrations on Saturday 18th & Sunday
19th May between 11am – 3pm. Come along & sample a fabulous array of local produce. The Mayor will open the event and at 11.30am will cut the ‘Love Your Local Market’ cake representing the fabulous array of commodities we have on Cambridge Markets, made by local cake maker Tom Dolby of Tom’s Cakes, who has a stall at the market on a Sunday.
Cllr. Julie Smith, Executive Councillor for Customer Services & Resources said, “I am delighted that Cambridge City Council is supporting the ‘Love your Local Market’ campaign again this year and am really looking forward to the Taste of Cambridge Markets weekend, which will give residents and visitors to Cambridge the chance to see how fantastic Cambridge Markets are, if they haven’t already. Hopefully this will inspire them to enter the Markets competition.”
‘How do you see Cambridge Market?’
Only a few more days left to get your entries in for the ‘How do you see Cambridge Markets Artwork competition! So, get painting or drawing, come along and take some photographs of the market and its colourful characters & start writing those catchy songs! Maybe you like writing stories or poetry? How do you see Cambridge Market – this could be a picture from the past, how you see it now, or a futuristic view! Maybe the market traders will get up and sing your song! Perhaps you will come along and recite your poem – anything could happen at this event!
We will have 3 categories for this competition & will award a prize to the winner in each category. The competition is open to adults & children. The public will be invited to view & vote for their favourites. Voting slips will be available at the viewing. The collection will be displayed in the Guildhall, Market Square, Cambridge on Tuesday 21st & Wednesday 22nd May, between 10am – 3pm. Everyone who votes will be entered into a prize draw & the winner of the draw will receive a prize also, so come along and see this fantastic display!

The lucky winners of this competition will receive tickets to the Cambridge Rock Festival, which takes place from the 1st – 4th August see www.cambridgerockfestival.co.uk and prizes donated by Cambridge
