The fight for heritage lighting continues

Column in Victoria St with incorrect removal sign

Jumping the gun

Colin Rosenstiel twice had to write to the County Council in the last week because Balfour Beatty started work planning to remove cast iron columns in Fair Street and Victoria Street despite agreeing to put such work on hold while ways of preserving them are investigated.
It seems that only through constant vigilance can this dysfunctional PFI deal be kept on track.
Please contact councillors if you are in other streets and are similarly affected.
Sadly your councillors have had to conclude that main road lights like those in Maid’s Causeway that were converted from gas lights can’t be preserved. Examples have been given to the Cheddars Lane Technology Museum at Colin’s request, though.
